What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boat Shop Technician position at QED Systems Inc?
Job Description: Possess an in-depth knowledge of boats and an operational knowledge of propulsion and electrical systems. Able to perform maintenance and repair of small boats to include engine installations, electronics installs and outdrive replacements. Have the ability to trouble shoot and repair vessels within a specific work package. Candidate must demonstrate strong problem solving skills, be able to work independent and be organized.
Job Requirements/skill sets:
Experience with different 12v and 24v electrical systems (engine monitoring systems, navigation, radar, and communication systems, etc.). Able to read drawings and effectively work to NAVSEA standards. Must have knowledge of multiple different driveline configurations and components (inboard / outboard, sterndrives, jet drives and full outboard)
Education Requirements: High school degree or equivalent
Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance and/or be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
