Aerospace CNC Milling Cell Leader

About the Role

Step into a leadership role guiding a high-performing CNC milling cell in a fast-paced aerospace environment. As the Technical Mill Supervisor, you’ll orchestrate people, processes, and machines to deliver precision parts that meet rigorous AS9100 and FAA requirements—on time and on budget.

A Day in the Life

You start with a quick floor walk, confirming machine health and safety, then lead a brief stand-up with machinists, programmers, and technicians. You align priorities with the production schedule, assign work, and remove roadblocks. Throughout the day you coach your team, verify quality at key checkpoints, collaborate with Engineering and Quality on new launches and capability studies, and drive Lean improvements to eliminate waste and increase throughput. You stay close to equipment reliability, reviewing preventative maintenance tasks and planning upgrades that boost uptime. Before close, you review KPIs, update shop-floor records, and confirm materials and inventory are staged for the next shift.

What You’ll Lead

• People leadership: coach, train, and mentor machinists, CNC programmers, and maintenance/technical staff; set expectations and foster accountability and continuous improvement.
• Production execution: align daily milling operations to schedule, cost goals, and aerospace-level quality targets.
• Quality and compliance: enforce AS9100, FAA, and internal procedures so every component meets strict aerospace standards.
• Process improvement: uncover inefficiencies, lead Lean/5S initiatives, and solve complex machining challenges across multi-axis equipment.
• Equipment readiness: monitor performance, own the PM plan, and recommend upgrades to maximize machine availability.
• Cross-functional teamwork: partner with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain on NPI, process capability, and resolution of nonconformances.
• Metrics and materials: track production KPIs, keep accurate shop documentation, and manage inventory and materials flow.

What You Bring

• 10 years in CNC machining; aerospace background strongly preferred.
• 2 years supervising within a machining operation.
• Expertise in CNC milling and multi-axis machinery, plus deep knowledge of aerospace-grade materials and tooling.
• Fluency in blueprint interpretation, GD&T, and precision machining practices.
• Proven command of AS9100 standards and FAA regulatory expectations.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Clear, organized communicator who thrives in a dynamic shop setting.

Preferred

• Experience with Lean, 5S, or Six Sigma.
• Comfort with ERP/MRP systems and production reporting.
• Hands-on leader with strong mechanical aptitude.
