SUMMARY

Utility Maintenance Supervisor (Electrical & Instrumentation) is responsible for leading all maintenance activities related to the electrical distribution systems and instrumentation across the facility. This includes power systems, MCCs, control panels, sensors, and monitoring devices that are critical to utility and production operations.

The Supervisor manages preventive and corrective maintenance work, leads a team of in- house technicians, and ensures compliance with safety regulations and company maintenance standards. This role plays a key part in ensuring uninterrupted operations, troubleshooting system failures, and improving equipment reliability.

Core Responsibilities

The Main tasks of the Utilities Maintenance Supervisor (Electrical & Instrumentation) should include but not limited to the following:

  • Supervision and Team Management:
    • Supervise inspection, testing, and maintenance of LV/MV switchgear, transformers, panels, and instrumentation devices.
    • Oversee routine calibration of sensors, control valves, pressure transmitters, and flow meters.
    • Ensure adherence to electrical codes (e.g., NEC) and instrumentation best practices.
  • Preventive & Corrective Work:
    • Implement preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and ensure timely task completion.
    • Coordinate and execute troubleshooting for alarms, faults, or system failures affecting production.
    • Maintain technical documentation, as-built drawings, and update maintenance records.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and mentor a team of electrical/instrumentation technicians.
    • Provide job assignments, daily work briefings, and follow-up on task execution.
    • Support technician development through hands-on guidance and technical training.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols and arc flash safety procedures.
    • Ensure all electrical work meets OSHA and NFPA 70E standards.
    • Participate in internal/external audits and ensure electrical system compliance.
  • Coordination & Communication:
    • Interface with Engineering, Operations, and EHS to plan shutdowns, upgrades, and hazard mitigations.
    • Support capital projects from a maintenance planning and integration perspective.
    • Lead or attend review meetings and prepare maintenance performance reports.
Job Qualifications

  • Educational Background:
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Associate degree or technical training in Electrical Technology or Instrumentation preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical or instrumentation maintenance in an industrial setting.
    • At least 2 years of team lead or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of power distribution, MCC, PLC wiring, control systems, and field instrumentation.
    • Experience with reading electrical schematics, loop drawings, and P&IDs.
    • Familiar with CMMS systems and preventive maintenance planning.
  • Relevant Certificate (Preferred):
    • Licensed Electrician or Instrumentation Technician.
    • NFPA 70E, OSHA 10/30, Lockout/Tagout certification.
  • Competencies:
    • Excellent troubleshooting and risk assessment skills.
    • Strong leadership and team coordination.
    • High attention to detail and safety compliance.
