Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and professional Garage Door Technician to handle service calls, repairs, and new installations. As the face of our company in the field, you will be responsible for providing expert mechanical work and top-tier customer service. This role requires safely operating a company-provided service vehicle to travel between job sites across the Quad Cities area.
Key Responsibilities
Service & Installation
§ Diagnose, repair, and install garage doors, openers, and associated hardware for residential and commercial customers.
§ Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections and educate customers on repairs and maintenance recommendations.
§ Complete work orders, invoices, and service documentation accurately.
§ Troubleshoot mechanical issues using mechanical knowledge and electrical experience to restore optimal function
Vehicle & Inventory Management
§ Safely drive and maintain a company vehicle to complete daily dispatched routes.
§ Maintain standardized truck stock so common springs and rollers are ready for every call.
Customer Communication & Sales
§ Deliver exceptional, memorable service to every customer to help drive 5-star online reviews and build community trust.
§ Identify upsell opportunities.
§ Offer valuable additions to service calls, such as adding a keypad, upgraded rollers, or a preventative maintenance package.
Scheduling & Dispatch
§ Communicate clearly with the office dispatcher throughout the day to ensure route efficiency and handle emergency calls.
§ Participate in on-call or overtime schedules as needed.
Qualifications
§ Prior experience in garage door repair, installation, or a similar mechanical/construction trade.
§ Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (mandatory for driving the company vehicle).
§ Comfortable using mobile dispatching and CRM software (like Housecall Pro) to track jobs and update the office.
§ Ability to perform heavy lifting (75 pounds) and physical labor in varying weather conditions.
§ Comfortable using ladders, power tools, and hand tools.
§ Excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor.
§ Ability to pass a background check and motor vehicle screening.
§ Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
