Position Overview
The Roads Coordinator provides administrative and logistical support for the Tribal Transportation Improvement Program (mP). This position assists in coordinating communications, maintaining records, supporting transportation-related projects, and ensuring funds are used in accordance with funding agency rules.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support for transportation-related initiatives under the Special Projects Department.
- Helps ensure compliance with applicable tribal and federal regulations by efficiently supporting the preparation of work.
- Coordinate and work closely with the Project Manager to ensure transportation priorities are met and reported as required by the funding agency.
Core Functional Duties
- Works with the Project Manager, Special Projects Director, and Tribal
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date files, logs, and documentation related to transportation
- Assist in the preparation of routine reports and
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (e.g., BIA, Department of the Interior, DOT) and keep logs and reports up to date and accurate.
- Support all preconstruction and maintenance work on transportation projects, including environmental documentation, archaeological clearances, permits, right of ways, plans, specifications, and the engineer's estimate, as needed.
- Help prepare materials for meetings, trainings, and community updates related to the Transportation programs.
- Assist in coordinating site visits, inspections, and communication with federal/state/tribal representatives and contractors.
- Develop and maintain a working relationship with appropriate entities (i.e., State, other Tribal governments, Federal, Bureau of Indian Affairs, etc.)
- Attend appropriate training, workshops, and meetings, and represent the Tribe at Transportation program-related events.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of general office, coordination, or administrative
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills
- Valid Driver's
- Must pass a drug
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimum supervision
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Must reside in Unalaska/Dutch Harbor
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting transportation, construction, or infrastructure-related
- Experience working with Tribal governments or Alaska Native
- Familiarity with working with federal agency
- Local knowledge of the community
