- Experience supporting reactor radiation protection programs, radiological design criteria, ALARA programs, source-term evaluations, shielding and dose assessments, instrumentation programs, radioactive material controls, and related technical programs.
- Ability to support advanced reactor and microreactor developers as projects progress through design, licensing, construction, commissioning, startup, and operations.
- Experience developing and reviewing technical information supporting NRC licensing applications, regulatory submittals, Requests for Additional Information (RAIs), and regulator interactions.
- Ability to participate in technical and regulatory meetings with NRC staff, reactor developers, engineering organizations, clients, and other project stakeholders.
- Ability to translate reactor licensing requirements into practical radiation protection programs, procedures, technical basis documents, training programs, staffing requirements, instrumentation programs, and operational controls.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Physics, Radiation Protection, Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Science, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Significant progressively responsible professional experience in health physics, radiation protection, radiological engineering, or radiological control.
- Demonstrated experience with DOE radiation protection programs and 10 CFR Part 835.
- Demonstrated experience with commercial and industrial radiation safety programs.
- Experience with NRC and/or Agreement State regulatory requirements and licensing.
- Working knowledge of NRC reactor regulation, including 10 CFR Part 50.
- Familiarity with emerging NRC regulatory approaches for advanced reactors and microreactors, including proposed 10 CFR Part 57.
- Experience developing and reviewing radiation protection programs, procedures, Technical Basis Documents, dose assessments, radiological work controls, and technical reports.
- Working knowledge of applicable DOE, NRC, Agreement State, and DOT requirements.
- Experience interacting with regulators, clients, engineers, project managers, and senior management.
- Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead complex technical projects and provide senior-level technical direction.
- Ability to independently evaluate complex radiological and regulatory issues and develop practical, technically defensible solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a consulting environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel to client and project locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Certified Health Physicist (CHP) certification through the American Board of Health Physics (ABHP).
- 10 years of progressively responsible health physics or radiological protection experience.
- Experience supporting DOE nuclear or radiological facilities.
- NRC reactor licensing, radiation protection, or operational experience.
- Advanced reactor or microreactor development, licensing, startup, or operational experience.
- Radiation Safety Officer experience.
- NRC or Agreement State radioactive material licensing experience.

Client Relationships & Business Development
This position will have an active role in maintaining existing client relationships and supporting the continued growth of Qal-Tek's nuclear and radiological services.
The successful candidate will:
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to existing and prospective clients.
- Communicate complex technical and regulatory issues clearly to executives, engineers, project managers, regulators, and field personnel.
- Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, project planning sessions, conferences, and industry events.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and industry partners.
- Identify emerging client needs and opportunities where Qal-Tek can provide additional support.
- Assist with development of proposals, scopes of work, technical approaches, schedules, staffing plans, and cost estimates.

- Represent Qal-Tek professionally during client meetings, regulator interactions, conferences, and other business development activities.
Desired Professional Profile
The ideal candidate is a senior health physics professional who can operate effectively across DOE, NRC reactor, NRC materials, Agreement State, and industrial radiation protection environments.
We are looking for someone who has worked in the field, developed programs, written technical documents, dealt directly with regulators, solved complex radiological problems, and provided senior technical leadership.
This individual should be capable of moving between very different projects—from evaluating a DOE 10 CFR Part 835 program or developing a Technical Basis Document, to supporting an advanced reactor or microreactor developer, developing a MARSSIM characterization strategy, evaluating uranium or thorium-bearing material, performing a dose assessment, auditing a client's radiation protection program, or providing technical oversight for radioactive material packaging and transportation.
Just as importantly, this individual must understand the consulting side of the business. They should be able to listen to a client's problem, understand the technical and regulatory issues, determine what support is needed, communicate a practical path forward, and help develop that need into a well-defined project.
We are looking for a senior professional who can execute today's projects, strengthen our technical capabilities, build trusted client relationships, and help develop tomorrow's work.
