We are looking for a Director of Software Development & IT to lead the strategic direction of software projects, continue the development of our in-house ERP system, oversee the entire software development lifecycle, and manage the operational infrastructure to align with business objectives. You will operate at both the strategic and hands-on level. You will lead a team, but you will also own the thinking behind the systems they build.
This is not a help desk role, and it is not a passive leadership position. You need to be able to see the entire system, understand how everything interacts, and build something better when it doesn't make sense.
This role is on-site in Dover, NH. Being in the building, seeing problems firsthand, and working directly with teams is critical to doing this job right. You will be immersed in the fun and innovative culture that inspires the Q brand.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the IT and software development department
- Lead integrations across Adobe Commerce, ERP, and a range of additional software systems responsible for tracking essential business and compliance metrics/processes
- Oversee cloud infrastructure, networking, uptime, and data security
- Identify and remedy system inefficiencies, failures, and operational gaps
- Drive AI and automation initiatives to reduce manual data input and improve efficiency
- Lead, hire, and develop the IT team while holding a high-performance standard
- Partner with operations, engineering, production, finance, sales, and compliance teams to ensure systems support real business needs.
- Communicate complex technical systems clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- 7-10 years of relevant experience
- Dedication to federal firearms compliance
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to approach problems positively and creatively
- Willing to receive constructive feedback
- Adaptable to dynamic business needs
- Must be able to work on-site in Dover, NH and be comfortable around firearms
- Bachelor's in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- Adobe Commerce or Magento experience
- Experience in manufacturing environments
- Experience in regulated industries
- Familiarity with firearms compliance, FFL operations, and AWS experience
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with ERP platforms such as NetSuite, Epicor, or similar
- Ability to work on-site in an office and manufacturing environment
- Ability to lift 20 pounds, sit, stand, and move between departments as needed
- Ability to use standard office and computer equipment for extended periods
