Freedom Detox is seeking a compassionate and motivated Licensed Counselor to join our dedicated clinical team in Gastonia, North Carolina. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed behavioral health professional who is passionate about helping individuals overcome substance use and mental health challenges in a supportive detox and recovery setting.

Preferred Credentials

Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree and possess or be working toward one of the following North Carolina licenses:

• LCSWA / LCSW
• LCMHCA / LCMHC
• LMFTA / LMFT
• LCASA / LCAS preferred
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Assess behavioral, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social needs of clients and families
• Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and monitor individualized treatment goals
• Provide individual counseling, family sessions, therapeutic groups, and discharge planning support
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record
• Support utilization review processes and authorization requests
• Participate in aftercare planning and continuity of care coordination
• Assist with program curriculum development, staff training, and clinical best practices
• Provide crisis intervention and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment
• Participate in on-call rotation as assigned
• Complete required trainings and other duties as needed
  
  

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Chemical Dependency, or related field
• Active North Carolina clinical license or associate-level license required
• Experience in substance use treatment, trauma-informed care, detox, or mental health settings preferred
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective during crisis situations
• Knowledge of state regulations, accreditation standards, and compliance expectations
