What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Compliance Manager position at PWS Employment?
HR Compliance and Payroll Analyst
Are you the person everyone turns to when there's a complicated payroll question, an HRIS issue, or a compliance situation that needs to be figured out?
PWS Employment is leading a search for an experienced Senior Payroll & HR Compliance Analyst to join a growing organization. This is a high-impact role for someone who knows payroll inside and out but also enjoys the broader HR side of the business — compliance, HRIS, benefits, leave administration and process improvement.
What You'll Own
In this role, you'll oversee the end-to-end payroll process while serving as a key resource for HR compliance and employee data. You'll work closely with HR, Finance and Accounting and have the opportunity to improve systems and processes rather than simply maintain them.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll and tax requirements
- Handle payroll tax filings, payments, reconciliations and reporting
- Research and resolve complex payroll discrepancies
- Partner with Finance and Accounting on payroll reconciliation and reporting
- Support multi-state wage and hour compliance
- Administer and provide guidance on FMLA, ADA and other employee leaves
- Manage benefits administration and employee information within the HRIS
- Audit payroll, benefits, leave and HRIS data for accuracy and compliance
- Generate and analyze payroll and HRIS reports
- Identify opportunities to automate and improve payroll and HR processes
- Maintain payroll procedures, documentation and SOPs
- Support internal and external audits
- Stay current on payroll, tax and HR regulatory changes
- Serve as a resource and mentor to junior team members
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with 5 years of experience in payroll, HR compliance and/or leave administration who has the technical knowledge to handle complex payroll issues and the judgment to work effectively with employees and leadership.
You'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Strong knowledge of payroll taxes and payroll compliance
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems
- Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, ERISA, ACA and wage-and-hour requirements
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Experience working with multi-state payroll is highly desirable
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex issues clearly
- Payroll or HR compliance certification is a plus
- Private equity-backed company experience is a plus
- This is a great opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who wants more than a payroll processing job. You'll have visibility across the organization, tackle meaningful compliance and systems challenges, and have a real opportunity to improve how things are done.
