Environmental Scientist II/Geologist
As an Environmental Scientist II, you'll work independently across diverse environmental projects, managing full-cycle site assessments, sample collection, data analysis, and detailed report preparation. You'll also collaborate with Senior Technical Staff on environmental compliance assessments and permitting projects.
This position offers a structured development track toward project management. We're seeking a proactive professional eager to build skills in client communication, budgeting, scheduling, and task coordination, with a clear pathway to transition into a project manager role.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive environmental assessments including Phase I and Phase II ESAs, Underground Storage Tank (UST) investigations, PADEP Act II site investigations and remediation, and Oil & Gas investigations and remediation
- Manage and interpret environmental monitoring data to assess analytical trends and identify exceedances
- Supervise and document field activities including soil borings, monitoring well installations, remediation, and sample collection
- Prepare detailed work plans and reports outlining procedures, results, conclusions, and recommendations
- Work directly with project managers on task management and project execution
- Travel to local project sites, with occasional overnight stays
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental consulting with focus on environmental assessment, due diligence, sampling, data collection/evaluation, and technical writing
- Strong working knowledge of methodologies and procedures for due diligence, soil/groundwater investigations, remediation, and environmental compliance/permitting
- Exceptional technical writing skills for documenting findings, preparing high-quality reports, and developing regulatory submittals
- Clear, organized communication skills for effectively conveying technical information to both internal teams and external clients
- Strong administrative and organizational abilities to manage project documentation, maintain accurate records, track milestones/deadlines, and support data management
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to field conditions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Exceptional time management skills with ability to handle multiple concurrent projects
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or related discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
- Stormwater permitting experience (NPDES, SWPPP, SPDES, etc.)
- Working knowledge of PA ACT 2 Land Recycling Programs
- Experience with Spill Prevention Controls and Countermeasures Plans (SPCC)
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training and current 8-hour refresher
- ArcGIS skills and experience
