Welder/Fitter

Overview

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Welder / Pipefitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong foundational knowledge in welding, pipefitting and plumbing. Basic knowledge of boiler repairs is also preferred (i.e. tube replacement, waterleg repair, etc.). A 6G welding certification or the ability to pass a 6G weld test is highly preferred.

Duties

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper piping systems.
• Perform welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions, working toward or utilizing 6G position standards.
• Measure, cut, thread, groove, and bend pipes using hand and power tools.
• Join copper piping using ProPress press-connect systems, as well as traditional sweating/soldering and brazing methods.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and mechanical schematics.
• Inspect, test, and troubleshoot installed systems (pressure testing) to ensure leak-free performance and compliance with codes.
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace and strictly adhere to all OSHA and company safety standards.

Skills

• 6G welding certification (SMAW, GTAW, or GMAW) preferred; candidates capable of passing a 6G qualification test will be considered.
• Experience and basic understanding in plumbing, pipefitting, or industrial maintenance.
• Hands-on proficiency with cutting torch, copper ProPress tools, torch soldering, and brazing.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure, use layout tools, and interpret piping drawings.
• Basic understanding of plumbing and pipe material specifications.
• Open to additional training and ability to follow instructions with accuracy and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

• Flexible availability to work non-traditional, irregular, or flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as required. Ability to work in group settings and individually.
• Comfortable working in harsh weather conditions (heat/cold).
• Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces or overhead positions, and work at elevated heights.
• Work safely within marine shipping environments, including freight vessel decks, engine rooms, and cargo holds.
• Proper use of required PPE (welding hood, respirator, safety glasses, steel-toe boots).
• Physical stamina to lift, stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
