The Quality Technician supports all quality‑related activities within tube fabrication, brazing, and assembly operations. This role performs inspections, tests, documentation reviews, and process verifications to ensure products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and internal quality standards. The technician works closely with production, engineering, and the Quality Manager to maintain a robust quality system and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Testing

  • Perform in‑process and final inspections on tube components, brazed assemblies, and finished products
  • Inspect tube dimensions, bend angles, endforms, corrugations, and assembly features using precision measurement tools
  • Evaluate brazed joints for quality, completeness, cleanliness, and visual acceptance criteria
  • Conduct leak testing (pressure decay, hydrostatic), cleanliness checks, and functional tests as required
  • Verify compliance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and control plans

Documentation & Traceability

  • Complete inspection reports, test logs, and quality records accurately and on time
  • Maintain traceability of materials, assemblies, and inspection results
  • Review work orders, travelers, and documentation for completeness and accuracy
  • Support first‑article inspections (FAI) and production part approvals (PPAP) when applicable

Nonconformance Management

  • Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming material
  • Initiate nonconformance reports (NCRs) and assist with root‑cause analysis
  • Verify reworked or repaired parts meet all quality requirements before release
  • Communicate quality issues to supervisors, engineers, and operators

Process Control & Support

  • Audit production processes for compliance with quality standards and work instructions
  • Verify proper setup of tube‑fabrication equipment, brazing fixtures, and assembly tooling
  • Support calibration activities by checking gauges, tools, and test equipment
  • Assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

Continuous Improvement

  • Provide feedback on recurring defects, process variations, or documentation gaps
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, 5S activities, and lean manufacturing efforts
  • Support training of operators on quality requirements and inspection techniques

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures related to tube fabrication, brazing operations, and pressure testing
  • Use required PPE and maintain a clean, organized inspection area
  • Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or near‑misses

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in quality inspection within manufacturing, preferably tube fabrication or brazed assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
  • Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and check fixtures
  • Understanding of brazing processes, tube‑forming operations, and leak‑test methods
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to stand, lift, and work in a production environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with pressure‑decay testing, hydrostatic testing, or cleanliness inspection
  • Familiarity with ISO‑based quality systems, control plans, and PFMEA
  • ERP/MRP system experience
  • Quality certifications (e.g., ASQ CQI, CQT)
  • Experience in HVAC, heat‑exchanger, automotive, or aerospace tube assemblies

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
