Summary:  The Quality Water Test Inspector is responsible for ensuring all boats meet company quality standards for all systems on the boat. This role performs detailed water testing and systems testing and inspections on all boats systems to identify leaks, and any defects in the systems. The inspector documents findings and works with manufacturing and engineering to rework and correct any issues.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities`

  • Accountable for ensuring that established Quality standards and objectives are met or exceeded within his/her areas of Quality responsibility
  • Review Quality/Warranty issues and determine root cause
  • Perform water testing on complete boats to identify leaks, water intrusion an any systems issues
  • Completes required system checks as required. Some examples as follows
    • AC/DC electrical equipment
    • Drainage system
    • Fresh water system
    • Waste system
    • Fuel system & fuel restriction test
    • AC/Heat
    • Propulsion system
    • Performance testing in pool or inshore
  • Work with MFG to present the problem & countermeasures through the CAR system
  • Inspect hulls, decks, window, hatches, fittings, plumbing and other components for quality and proper installation
  • Accurately document inspection results, defects and corrective actions in inspection reports
  • Clearly communicate issues/finding to manufacturing and work with them to correct or repair findings
  • Maintain inspection tools, testing equipment and work areas
  • Follow all safety, environmental and company policies during inspections and testing
  • Other duties may be assigned.
    • Trained to use measuring devices such as ultrasound machines, wet film gauges, moisture meters, etc.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • General knowledge and understanding of boat building and boat systems
  • Must be able to understand and execute top quality.
  • Job requires standing and working in and around boats/molds throughout the entire day.
  • Must work efficiently and in the safest manner possible, following all safety regulations at all times.
  • Must be able to work at heights above four feet.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Boat Captain experience a plus

Education and/or Experience:  High school education

 

Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

Employee is exposed to ambient could temperatures for short periods in the winter months and is exposed to ambient heat temperatures in summer months. Very dusty environment. Airborne particulates from cutting, drilling, grinding. Exposure to extremely sharp tooling used for cutting fiberglass.

Typical 10 hour work days, frequent overtime required.
