Job Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support manufacturing operations at a high-volume Client’s production facility in Sanford, NC. The engineer will provide hands-on technical support for assembly and manufacturing operations, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, support machine testing and validation, and drive continuous improvements in manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, and facility systems.
The role will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Engineering, Production Planning, and Robot Technicians to improve safety, quality, delivery, capacity, and cost performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily technical support for manufacturing and assembly operations.
- Troubleshoot mechanical equipment, tooling, process, and production issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Support machine testing and validation involving sensors, pumps, fluid-handling equipment, automated testing systems, and A/C charging equipment.
- Monitor and confirm daily machine and equipment performance.
- Develop, document, implement, and improve standard work.
- Support manufacturing process, tooling, equipment, and layout improvements.
- Analyze production processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support assembly processes including torque-tool applications, lifting processes, time studies, line balancing, and capacity analysis.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, technical documentation, and equipment specifications.
- Support new product introduction, manufacturing changes, and process improvements.
- Analyze engineering and manufacturing requirements and provide recommendations for equipment, processes, training, and product design.
- Develop project scopes of work and support engineering project planning.
- Support capital equipment planning, acquisition, and procurement activities.
- Prepare equipment specifications and assist with the evaluation of new or replacement equipment.
- Conduct feasibility analysis and support project implementation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing performance.
- Document validation results, engineering changes, corrective actions, and process improvements.
- Support facility and manufacturing space utilization improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline required.
- 0–4 years of engineering experience, depending on level.
- Engineering internships may be considered as relevant experience.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing/shop-floor environment.
- Must be able to work 100% onsite in Sanford, NC.

- Manufacturing engineering experience.

Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will be hands-on Mechanical Engineers who are comfortable working directly with production teams and manufacturing equipment. Candidates with manufacturing, equipment troubleshooting, Lean/continuous improvement, testing/validation, or project experience will be strongly preferred.
For more experienced candidates, project management, capital procurement, scope-of-work development, and Lean Six Sigma/Black Belt experience will be differentiating factors.
