Tax Manager – Fund Compliance & Reporting (Hybrid 3 days/week onsite)
Pure Search is supporting a leading private investment firm hiring a Tax Manager to join its Greenwich, CT office. This role is ideally suited for tax professionals based in Fairfield County, Westchester, or along the Metro-North corridor or NYC-based candidates open to a reverse commute (against traffic, roughly 40 minutes from Grand Central).
As Tax Manager, you will support senior tax leadership in managing the firm's US tax compliance function across a sophisticated, multi-tiered fund platform. You'll partner closely with internal accounting, legal, and investor relations teams while coordinating with top-tier external tax advisors. This is a high-visibility role with meaningful exposure to complex structures and cross border work.
Key Responsibilities
- Support US federal and state tax compliance across a multi-entity fund platform, including review of partnership, corporate, REIT, and international filings
- Review investor Schedule K-1 reporting for accuracy and timeliness
- Manage joint venture information requests and the associated return workflow
- Coordinate information gathering between internal accounting and external tax preparers for quarterly and year-end reporting
- Oversee entity classification elections for non-US entities, working alongside global colleagues and external advisors
- Manage federal and state tax notice resolution and maintain the firm's tax return tracking database
- Partner with legal on state tax registrations and with investor relations on tax-related investor inquiries
- Support fund and property-level audit teams with year-end reporting, including ASC 740/FIN 48 analysis
- Contribute to transfer pricing documentation and ongoing REIT compliance matters (periodic testing, TRS elections, due diligence)
- Take on ad hoc projects in support of the broader tax team

- Fund tax — private equity, real estate, credit, hedge, venture, or fund-of-funds
- Tiered partnership structures — multi-tier flow-through entities, allocations, and reporting
- Public accounting — Big 4 or national firm experience serving asset management, financial services, or real estate clients
- In-house tax — asset manager, family office, or institutional investor tax function
- REIT or real estate tax — compliance, testing, and structuring exposure
- International tax compliance — non-US entity reporting, entity classification, withholding
- Partnership allocations — including waterfall mechanics, targeted allocations, or §704(b)/(c)

Qualifications
- 5–7 years of relevant tax experience (public accounting, in-house, or a combination)
- CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred; MST or JD/LLM a plus
- Strong review skills and comfort managing external service providers
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to interact effectively across levels and functions
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; comfortable working with tax/database systems
