The Mortgage Lending Coordinator provides administrative and operational support to the Mortgage Operations team. This entry-level role is responsible for ordering required services, coordinating documentation, managing communications, and assisting Processors and Closers to ensure loans move efficiently from application to closing. The Coordinator serves as a liaison between members and the internal lending team while maintaining accuracy, organization, and compliance. Must comply with all SAFE Act procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Document & Service Ordering
- Order title work, verify accuracy of names, legal descriptions, liens, and property information.
- Request insurance documentation, confirm coverage levels, and ensure Purdue Federal Credit Union is listed as loss payee.
- Verify flood insurance requirements, including coverage amounts, pay status, and accuracy of property information.
- Order payoffs from other lenders in sufficient time for closing.
- Coordinate appraisal-related payment processing and track third-party credit card activity.
- Assist with construction draw requests, including updated title, inspections, and disbursement documentation.
- Manage payment and processing of application fees and invoices to third-party vendors, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation.
Pipeline & Workflow Support
- Manage the Closing email inbox and route inquiries appropriately.
- Ensure all required closing documents are received and complete for Closers to create closing packages.
- Follow up on outstanding items required for closing and communicate status updates with team members.
- Confirm rate locks and expiration dates to ensure timely closing preparation.
- Conduct 10-day employment verifications for loan files.
- Assign loan applications to an originator or processor when one is not designated.
- Support scheduling and follow-up with title companies, realtors, and processors regarding closing dates.
- Coordinate onboarding and booking of newly closed mortgage loans into the core system, ensuring accuracy and completeness of loan data.
- Support secondary market activities by assisting with the preparation and transfer of loan files for sale.
Member & Partner Communication
- Serve as a liaison between members and the Mortgage Lending team, ensuring clear and timely communication.
- Prepare and send welcome communications to new borrowers, ensuring a smooth transition from closing to servicing.
- Contact insurance agents, title companies, and other third parties to obtain necessary documentation.
- Provide updates to processors, originators, and Closers regarding scheduling, documentation, and outstanding items.
- Assist with coordinating hybrid and e-closing execution.
Operational Support & Cross-Training
- Act as backup for both the Processing and Closing teams as needed.
- Support post-closing tasks such as tracking escrow holdbacks and ensuring documentation is completed.
- Assist with gathering information needed for new builder approvals.
- Maintain organized files, logs, and tracking tools to support efficient workflow within Mortgage Operations.
