Who is Purchase Day Camp?
Purchase Day Camp offers a wide variety of broad-based programming for campers ages 3 - 15 years old, reinforcing our philosophy that every camper is different and should have the opportunity to find something that they can enjoy and excel at. Purchase Day Camp is a vital part of who our campers are; they grow, explore and learn about themselves and the world around them in a safe and positive environment, having fun throughout the process. Camp is where a kid can be their true self, creating cherished lifetime memories.
When is Purchase Day Camp?
Purchase Day Camp is an 8 week summer camp that runs June 29th-August 21st, 8:15 am - 4:15 pm. Camp is closed on July 3rd, which allows for a long weekend celebration for the 4th of July. No nights or weekends are required!

As an Activity Leader, you are responsible for planning, leading, and supervising specific enrichment activities while ensuring campers are safe, engaged, and having fun. The different enrichment activities include but are not limited to, Music, Arts & Crafts, Cooking, Woodwork, and Nature. These positions are essential to our mission of fostering personal growth and memorable experiences during their summer adventures. On a daily basis, you will promote a positive and supportive environment that contributes to our camp community on the whole, while also stepping into the mentorship space for those under your direction.
What are your responsibilities?
- Help develop and implement an enriching curriculum that engages our campers on an age appropriate level.
- Lead and supervise a group, anywhere from 20-25 campers, and their corresponding counseling staff, through the activity.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of those at your activity, while fostering their social skills and personal development.
- Set up, maintain, and clean up designated enrichment activity area.
- Manage behavior effectively, promoting a positive camp environment.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Maintain a positive camp atmosphere that encourages participation and fun.
Qualifications
- Educators - teachers, soon to be teachers, and those in education adjacent fields are preferred.
- Maintain flexibility and adaptability while simultaneously promoting teamwork and collaboration.
- Ability to manage behaviors of not only campers but fellow staff members, through the promotion of positive interactions.
- Foster relationships within the activity, while maintaining clear and set boundaries regarding the leadership role.
- Practice Sensitivity, Enthusiasm, and Encouragement.
- Willingness to contribute and participate daily in our camp community.
- Be open to learning and having new, rewarding experiences.
