Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls with professionalism and enthusiasm, providing clear and courteous assistance to patients and providers
- Verify patient information, insurance details, and medical records accurately while maintaining confidentiality
- Provide detailed explanations of medical procedures, billing processes, and office policies in a friendly manner
- Use strong phone etiquette to handle inquiries efficiently and resolve issues promptly
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology to accurately interpret patient needs and communicate effectively
- Document all interactions thoroughly in electronic health records or other data management systems
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure seamless communication between patients and healthcare providers
- Support the billing office daily operations by managing administrative tasks such as faxing, printing face sheets and data entry
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare customer service environment is highly preferred ( 2 years)
- Proficiency in computer skills including data entry, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and basic office software ( EClinical Works, Medisoft, Adobe, Microsoft Office Apps)
- Strong understanding of medical terminology to facilitate accurate communication
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on active listening and clarity in conveying information
- Demonstrated ability to handle high call volumes while maintaining professionalism and patience
- Experience with phone etiquette standards and customer service best practices is essential
- Analysis skills to assess patient needs quickly and provide appropriate solutions or escalate issues when necessary
