What are the responsibilities and job description for the PHYSICAL THERAPIST position at PULASKI MEMORIAL HOSPITAL?
Evaluates and assesses the patient's abilities and limitations.
Establishes plan of treatment and goals based on the referral and evaluation of functional skills, joint mobility, gait, developmental reflexes, muscle strength, tone, and coordination, sensation tests, and other measures to ensure rapid patient recovery.
Implements therapy according to established plan, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment and techniques within the scope of physical therapy.
Provide treatment in a competent manner, as appropriate to work setting (including: therapeutic ex, gait training, equip adjustment/progression, functional mobility training/progression, balance activities, family/caregiver training, home ex program instruction, modalities (including: TENS, ES, US, Iontophoresis, Phonophoresis, etc..), and wound care including sharps debridement. Also administers standardized tests and measurements (including: balance tests, functional, reach tests, ROM, grip strength, BP, etc..) in a technically competent manner while also complying with treatment contraindications and precautions.
Plans for discharge. Recommends adaptive equipment, as needed.
Consults and co-treats with other patient care team members to discuss patient progress, set objectives for patient treatment and integrate physical treatment with other activities.
Educates the patient and/or the caregiver about the findings of the evaluation, established goals of the physical therapy program, plan of treatment, home programs, injury prevention, and other related information.
Evaluates home or work environments and makes physical barrier modifications or ergonomic and equipment recommendations.
Assists in directing PT Assistants, Aides, Students/Interns, and Volunteers in their caseloads, including treatment planning, goal setting, progress evaluation and documentation.
Qualifications:
Basic evaluation and treatment techniques.
General office practices and procedures.
Awareness of activities of the department and where it fits within the organization.
Medical or other department specific terminology including spelling and definitions.
Knowledge of Physical Therapy treatment techniques and modality use.
Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy
