Description
Join the dedicated team at Fairview Elementary as a long-term substitute Learning Support Teacher from November through December, making a meaningful impact by supporting students in Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction in literacy and math. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to collaborate with caring staff, foster student growth, and be part of a positive, supportive school community. The long-term position will run for approximately 12 weeks beginning in October of 2026 with flexibility needed for the dates. Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm
Job Goal: The Learning Support Teacher shall provide building level support for the curriculum, assessment, and instruction necessary to enrich and support the learning and achievement of all student focusing on “out of sync” learners both at-risk and advanced learner.
Qualifications:
- Wisconsin DPI Teaching Certification (for their level); Required Reading 316, or 317 reading specialist license or working towards the licensure for Title I Schools. Tier 3 math preferred.

Position Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with teachers and administrators regarding the learning of each student focusing on the support of RtI – Response to Instruction, progress monitoring, and advanced learners, etc. at the building level.

Coordinate the identification of “out of sync” learners (at-risk and gifted).

Lead the planning of the building level, classroom level and individual student learning activities to support the achievement and growth of at-risk and gifted students.

Support and provide differentiated resources and instruction to assist classroom teachers in meeting the learning needs of “out of sync” students.

Assist teachers in analyzing and collecting assessment data to document individual student learning. (Progress monitoring)

Communicate with and work with parents of at-risk students and gifted students regarding the learning program for their students.

Coordinate the implementation of DEP’s – Differentiated Educational Programs for the gifted students in their building.

Act as liaison between the building for which they are assigned to the District Learning Support Team and to the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning in order to coordinate and communicate about building and district programs and initiatives relative to curriculum, assessment and instruction for at-risk and advanced learners.

Act as a link between school and community in developing individual learning plans for students.

Supports classroom instruction and assessment by assisting in identifying goals and success criteria and meeting with individual teachers/collaborative teams to support data-based decision making, perform other duties as assigned.
Tier 3 Support:
- Provide individualized or small group instruction to students who require intensive interventions in a Tier 3 setting.
- Use research-based strategies and data-driven approaches to address academic gaps, especially in reading, math, and writing.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed to ensure measurable growth.
Tier 2 Support:
- Push into general education classrooms to provide targeted interventions to students at risk of falling behind.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify students in need of additional support and implement evidence-based strategies in the classroom.
- Assist with differentiating instruction and provide in-class interventions that help students make progress toward grade-level expectations.
Other job duties:
Provide enrichment for students who are above grade level.
