Description Of Duties/Essential Functions
Under administrative direction of the Section head, serves as Unit Supervisor managing the agency's program for licensing the use of radioactive material within the state; develops objectives, operating procedures and performance evaluation criteria; evaluates and interprets policies; evaluates and approves licensee procedures and participates in review of legislation and rulemaking governing radiological safety; supervises activities of staff; prepares technical reports; makes presentations to agency staff, professional groups, other agencies and local government and public groups; consults with technical staff or other agencies and facilities regarding radiation protection, personnel dosimetry, dose reduction techniques and radioactive effluent monitoring control; substitutes for the Section Head in his absence, including supervision of Section staff.
Minimum Requirements
Requires knowledge of radioactive waste management techniques and regulations; requires ability to thoroughly assess the potential impact of facility design and operating procedures on people and the environment; requires knowledge of principles, practices and administration of radiation safety programs; including systems, processes and the application of statutes, rules and standards governing such programs. Requires working knowledge of administative procedures utilized in personnel management; program planning and development; fiscal projection and budgeting and program evaluation.
