Job Title:        Puesta Del Sol Preschool After-Care Assistant

This posting will create a pool of applicants. As openings become available, these applications will be reviewed and considered for interview.

Pay Grade: Hourly

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 
• Any combination of college courses and/or one year experience working with children of various ages, preferably in a school setting and/or recreational setting;
• Experience working with early childhood groups;
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English;
• Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationship with staff, participants and the general public;
• Ability to organize, control and instruct pre-kindergarten children;
• Child Development Certificate;
• Preferred - 45-Hour Childcare Certificate; and
• Preferred - CPR/First Aid Certified.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

The Assistant supervises pre-kindergarten students in an after school program and shall:

• Maintain a safe and structured environment during program hours;
• Notify Site Coordinator of the needs of the children;
• Meet with Site Coordinator on a daily, consistent basis;
• Be required to attend all applicable meetings;
• Collaborate with the Program Director regarding regular program functions;
• Ensure adherence to good safety procedures;
• Perform clerical duties as required;
• Assist with some maintenance and custodial duties;
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director;
• Comply with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations; and
• Employee may be assigned other duties based on the needs of the District during the term of employment.

Work Hours:

Work hours will be in accordance with hours determined by the School District and the individual school.
