Position Summary

Family Expectations is a nationally respected program for financially vulnerable parents around the birth of their child, having proven to increase relationship quality and stability for couples within the most rigorous research designed studies. Critical to the success of the program are the Family Expectations Educators that lead multi-session workshops.

The Family Expectations Educator (FEE) provides leadership within the program through high quality, dynamic workshop facilitation, structured coaching of proven skills, engagement of couples in group and couple activities, and provision of group-case management to include the sharing of information about community resources. This FEE will also provide oversight to additional trained coaches during skills practice sessions to occur during the workshop sessions. The FEE will form a working alliance with Family Expectations couples to increase their active knowledge about family success, build their capacity to deploy a range of skills to improve family life, gain access to additional resources to meet their family needs, and support meaningful behavior change that will have a positive impact on both their couple relationship and their children.

This is a part-time position, with services delivered during evening hours and on weekends, with additional training and preparation required on a monthly basis.

The FE Educators are classified into three tiers. All Educators will initially be hired at Tier 1 – Developing Educator and will undergo continuous evaluation throughout the year.

  • Tier 1 - Developing Educator: This level is designated for new Educators and those who are still in the development phase, either due to a shorter tenure or ongoing areas of training that need to be addressed.
  • Tier 2 - Proficient Educator: Educators at this level meet the standard expectations for facilitation. They are not assigned any additional responsibilities beyond their role as workshop facilitators.
  • Tier 3 - Advanced Educator: Educators in this category have demonstrated an elevated level of expertise, and their role requires a higher number of cohorts taught per year. Additionally, they are expected to participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the development of other staff Educators.
