What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fundraiser position at Public Outreach Fundraising?
Immigrant and minority rights are under attack. Gas prices have skyrocketed. Grocery prices are through the roof. The time to do something is right now.
Looking to make an impact in NYC through advocacy work, nonprofit fundraising, or community outreach while getting paid? This is your chance.
Public Outreach turns activism into a career with paid training and advancement opportunities. We partner with nonprofits like Amnesty International and the ACLU to raise monthly donations through face-to-face conversations.
We believe real change happens with real people having real conversations.
Our motto is: Honest. Effective. Respectful.
Our teams raise funds through face-to-face outreach with members of the public in community spaces and neighborhoods across the city.
Fundraisers speak with people about important nonprofit campaigns and invite them to become monthly supporters.
Successful fundraisers enjoy:
- Talking with new people throughout the day
- Working in energetic team environments
- Being active and on their feet instead of sitting at a desk
This is a face-to-face outreach role that involves speaking with members of the public throughout the day.
- $20/hour guaranteed starting pay (not commission)
- Regular pay reviews and performance-based raises
- Bonus opportunities
- Paid training from day one
- Benefits eligibility after 3 months for full-time employees
- Paid time off
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Work supporting major humanitarian, environmental, and social justice organizations
Public Outreach strongly believes in promoting from within, with many members of our leadership team starting their careers in the fundraising role.
We offer shifts Monday–Sunday, and ask that team members commit to at least three full 7.5hr shifts per week.
Available shifts:
Monday–Friday: 12:30 PM–8:00 PM
Saturday and Sunday: 7.5-hour shifts with varying start times, typically earlier
- Weekday and weekend shifts available

- Outgoing and comfortable speaking with new people
- Strong communicators who enjoy social interaction
- Passionate about humanitarian, environmental, or social justice causes
- Positive, reliable, and team-oriented
- Comfortable working outdoors and on their feet
Experience in fundraising, nonprofit work, advocacy, sales, hospitality, customer service, retail, volunteering, activism, education, or other public-facing roles is helpful - but not required.
