Colorado Public Radio (CPR) is hiring a Human Resources Fellow. 

About the Position:

This fellowship offers an immersive introduction to the human resources profession and is designed to help you launch your HR career with confidence. You’ll explore how thoughtful, inclusive HR practices drive a high-performing and engaged workplace. Through hands-on experience in recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, HR operations, and data analysis — along with exposure to benefits, leave administration, policy updates, and compensation — you’ll develop practical, real-world skills across the employee lifecycle. By the end of the program, you’ll have a strong professional foundation and clearer insight into whether you’d like to pursue a generalist HR path or specialize in a specific area of the field.

This is not a remote position. This role is expected to work in Centennial starting. The fellowship is a full-time, paid opportunity and runs from September 2026 through August 2027.

Key learning objectives for this experience include - 

  • Gain experience supporting the day to day HR operations. 

  • Develop hands-on experience managing onboarding, orientation and offboarding processes.

  • Gain exposure to benefits administration: strategy and planning, wellness and engagement, open enrollment, auditing and data analysis and employee support. 

  • Learn equitable recruitment practices, including establishing recruitment strategies,  creating inclusive job postings, candidate screening techniques and offer preparation, evaluating recruitment data.

  • Learn how to gather, analyze, and present HR data to stakeholders.

  • Develop introductory knowledge of compensation management.

  • Gain familiarity with leave administration and HR compliance practices.

About You:

You are interested in learning how the many functions of Human Resources are managed. You are service-oriented and enjoy collaborating with others. You’re organized, proactive, and eager to understand how HR systems and processes support employees across an organization. You’re not afraid of a challenge and are motivated to apply your critical thinking skills to address complex people and culture matters. You are interested in working with and analyzing data to identify trends and inform action. You’re comfortable handling sensitive information with discretion and enjoy both operational work and process improvement. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Less than 2 years of professional experience in human resources. 

  • Strong organization, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with Google Suite or similar technology including word processing software, spreadsheets, email and messaging systems. 

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality

  • Basic planning and project management skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments. 

  • Commitment to support diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging related goals and objectives. 

 

Education Equivalency:

  • A degree is not necessary. The fellowship is designed to support recent graduates, early career professionals, or those looking to pivot into the human resources field. If you have 2 years of professional HR experience, we encourage you to apply to other full-time CPR positions.

Position Type: Full-Time, Temporary

Anticipated Start: September 8, 2026 to August 27, 2027

Hiring Range: $21.59 hourly (budgeted for 40 hours per week)
