Position Summary

The Grant Writer is responsible for supporting the fundraising and development efforts of PTSD Foundation of America through the research, preparation, writing, and submission of grant proposals and related materials. This role works under the direction of the Grant Manager and collaborates with internal departments to gather programmatic information, measurable outcomes, and supporting documentation necessary for competitive grant applications.

The Grant Writer plays a key role in identifying funding opportunities, developing compelling narratives, maintaining grant records, and assisting with proposal and reporting activities that support the organization’s mission of serving Veterans and their families.

This position is based in-office and does not support remote work.


Responsibilities

The Grant Writer has the following responsibilities and duties:

  • Research and identify grant opportunities from government, corporate, foundation, and private funding sources that align with the mission and programs of PTSD Foundation of America.
  • Compile, write, edit, and submit grant proposals, Letters of Inquiry (LOIs), applications, and supporting materials.
  • Draft clear, compelling, and grammatically accurate narratives for grant submissions and fundraising materials.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to gather programmatic data, measurable outcomes, budgets, and supporting documentation needed for grant applications and reports.
  • Maintain organized grant files, proposal calendars, submission deadlines, and records related to grant opportunities and applications.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant reports, stewardship materials, acknowledgments, and additional correspondence for current and prospective funders under the direction of the Grant Manager.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to submitted proposals and grant application materials.
  • Support the tracking of grant submissions, funding decisions, reporting deadlines, and follow-up activities.
  • Maintain professional and positive communication with funders, stakeholders, and community partners.
  • Possess a working knowledge of PTSD, mental health challenges affecting Veterans, and the unique needs of the Veteran community.
  • Study and maintain an understanding of the organization’s mission, programs, history, structure, and funding priorities.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment while managing multiple assignments and meeting deadlines.
  • Assist with additional fundraising and development projects as assigned.

Requirements

The Grant Writer should possess the following education, skills, and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Creative Writing, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5years of professional grant writing experience with demonstrated success in preparing and submitting grant proposals on behalf of an organization.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, grammar, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of funding resources and proposal development processes.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze programmatic and financial information for proposal development purposes.


Physical Requirements

  • Regularly requires sitting and working at a computer for extended periods of time.


Compensation & Benefits

PTSD Foundation of America offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including:

  • Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000 annually
