About the Role
An Aerospace and Defense Manufacturer based out of Gulfport, MS is hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer II. This role sits at the center of the site's quality function, working closely with engineering and production to keep quality tight from incoming material through final inspection. Because this facility supports Navy defense work, the position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously improve the site's Quality Management System (QMS)
- Lead internal audits and support third party QMS audits and source inspections
- Oversee supplier qualification and government property management
- Manage measurement system control and calibration records
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective action (CAPA) investigations
- Partner with engineering and production on quality planning across the production process
Qualifications
- BS in Composites, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering (or related field such as Naval Architecture), or 3-6 years of hands-on quality experience in a manufacturing environment in lieu of degree
- AS9100 or ISO9001 experience preferred
- First Article Inspection (FAI) experience a plus
- SolidWorks (3D and 2D) proficiency a plus
- Composite materials or fabrication background a plus
- Strong technical writing skills for procedures and work instructions
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications
- Must be a US citizen and able to obtain/maintain a US DoD Security Clearance
Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing environment requiring lifting up to 50 lbs and use of PPE (respirators, safety glasses, protective footwear)
