What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at PTS Advance?
Overview:
The Hydronic and Plumbing Estimator position will be primarily responsible for providing accurate quotes, training support, assisting the sales team in maintaining estimating databases and creating new estimating methods.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Act as an Estimating Lead of all market types (mainly largescale pursuits-Design/Build, Design Assist, GMP, P&S, Budgets, etc.).
- Act as a mentor by training and supporting other Estimating Assistants & Estimators in the department.
- Detail reports before & after bid time.
- Provide support to Project Managers for projects estimated & budgeted.
- Follow up on bids before, and after bid time.
- Collaboration with other trade estimators & project managers for combined opportunities and pursuits.
- Assist with the project cost budgets and schedule of values.
- Participate in estimating, bid conferences and job walks.
- Assist with change order estimating, compilation and negotiation.
- Assist in the material and equipment buy outs on assigned projects.
- Assist in the utilization and collaboration with support operations (Engineering, BIM/Detailing, Fab, Warehouse, Purchasing, Field operations, etc.)
- Estimating coordination of pre-construction job meetings with department heads and supervisors.
- Attend training courses related to estimating methods and software.
- Review peer takeoff and estimate recaps for quality control.
- Ability to prepare design build estimates and conceptual budgets.
- Strong estimating software knowledge.
- Coordinate bid schedule with team members and estimating assistants.
- Assist in maintaining estimating software databases and material pricing.
- Assist in creating new estimating tools, assemblies, processes and spreadsheets to streamline estimating methods.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction or recognized equivalent preferred.
- 10 years of experience in the successful management of estimating, conceptual design drawings, and management of project bidding processes.
- Ability to operate independently and autonomously, and yet possess the discretionary judgment to know when it's appropriate to consult with others in the organization.
- Proficient utilization of management / accounting software.
- Demonstrate a corresponding high sense of integrity.
- Strong interpersonal and project management abilities, employing strong organizational skills to respond successfully to a high volume of issues.
- Degree and/or field and office experience in Construction Estimating or Engineering, or equivalent experience required.
Hours:
This is an exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the position's supervisor. Occasional overtime may be necessary per business needs.
Salary : $106,000 - $143,000
