Summary:
- The instructional designer will be responsible for developing and maintaining Distribution Planning training program and process documentation.
- This role combines expertise in technical communication and instructional design to transform complex electrical engineering concepts into clear, engaging, and accessible learning experiences for employees at all levels.
- The ideal candidate leverages adult learning principles and proven instructional methodologies to create impactful documentation and training solutions that drive performance and operational excellence.
- Design, develop, and maintain performance-based training programs using Human Performance Improvement (HPI) principles, ADDIE methodology, User Experience (UX) design, and adult learning theory.
- Create engaging learning solutions across multiple delivery formats, including instruct-orled training (ILT), e-learning, and blended learning environments.
- Establish and maintain documentation standards by creating templates, style guides, and governance processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality.
- Develop instructional materials such as storyboards, simulations, multimedia content, hands-on exercises, and assessments to enhance learner engagement and retention.
- Utilize e-learning authoring software (e.g., Articulate 360, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate) and Learning Management Systems (LMS) to create and deliver training content.
- Develop, write, and edit comprehensive technical documentation, including work instructions, quick-reference guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical manuals.
- Partner with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to conduct learning needs assessments and support the development and continuous improvement of business processes that enhance operational effectiveness.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables for documentation and training initiatives, ensuring completion within scope and deadlines.
- Perform all essential functions and aspects of the job description including any other specific job requirements.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Instructional Design, Technical Writing, or a blended role within a technical or engineering environment.
- Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate).
- Experience administering or developing content within Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and SharePoint.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
- Self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.
- Experience in the electric utility industry is preferred but not required.

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
