What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of IT for POS & Operations Systems position at PTR Global?
THE OPPORTUNITY
As Director of IT for POS & Operations Systems, you will own the full lifecycle of two mission-critical platforms: our next-generation Point of Sale system and our Tunnel Controller System. You’ll lead both an internal engineering team and a 3rd party development partner, reporting directly to the CIO. This is a builder role — you’ll be creating systems, processes, and teams that will power operations for years to come.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Leadership & Strategy
- Own the full program lifecycle for POS and TCS — from discovery and architecture through deployment and post-launch optimization.
- Define and maintain the technology roadmap, program milestones, and success metrics in alignment with growth strategy.
- Establish governance frameworks, change management protocols, and phased rollout sequencing across all locations.
- Serve as the primary technology liaison to the CIO and senior leadership, delivering clear executive-ready updates on program health, risks, and decisions.
Team & Vendor Leadership
- Build, lead, and mentor internal engineering team — defining team structure as the organization scales.
- Manage a 3rd party development partner with rigor — setting SLAs, reviewing deliverables, and driving accountability to timelines and quality standards.
- Align internal and external teams on shared architecture standards, sprint cadences, and integration protocols.
- Drive a high-performance culture: rapid iteration, clear ownership, and relentless focus on uptime and reliability.
Systems Development & Engineering
- Oversee architecture, development, and QA of the POS platform — including payment processing, membership/loyalty integrations, and real-time reporting.
- Drive engineering of the Tunnel Controller System, including hardware-software integration, conveyor logic, sensor management, and wash sequencing.
- Ensure systems are purpose-built for reliability and resilience across a high-volume, distributed fleet of car wash locations.
- Define API standards and integration patterns for communication between POS, TCS, and back-office and analytics systems.
Enterprise Rollout Across 250 Locations
- Design and execute a phased deployment strategy across full location footprint, minimizing operational disruption at each site.
- Develop site readiness checklists, staff training programs, and on-site support protocols for installation crews.
- Establish rollback and contingency procedures for each deployment wave
- Partner closely with operations, facilities, and field teams to ensure seamless go-lives.
Security, Compliance & Ongoing Support
- Ensure POS systems comply with PCI-DSS, EMV, and all relevant data privacy regulations
- Define cybersecurity standards for edge devices, site-level networking, and remote system access
- Establish monitoring, alerting, and uptime SLA targets across the entire technology fleet
