Role Description
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced construction accounting professional to join our team. As an integral part of our accounting department, you will support various accounting functions, maintain accurate financial recordkeeping, and contribute to the smooth operation of our projects. The accountant will assist with ensuring accurate financial transactions, budgets and reporting for construction projects. Candidates should have a strong understanding of construction accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with others. Candidate should also be eager to further develop their accounting stills and advance their career. The salary range for this position is between $80,00 and $100,000 per annum, based on experience and qualification.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Accounting & Financial Operations:
- Monitor, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with monthly close processes.
- Utilize Excel and other analytical tools to support financial analysis, reporting, and data reconciliation.
Project & Construction Accounting Support:
- Collaborate with project managers and other internal team members to ensure financial accuracy, job cost integrity, and accountability.
- Support accurate financial transactions, budgets, and reporting for construction projects.
Customer & Collections:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers to support timely and accurate collections.
Compliance & Audit Support:
- Prepare documentation and support internal and external audits activities.
- Collect, review, and process lien releases for construction projects.
Process Improvement & Professional Development:
- Stay current on construction accounting best practices and assist with continuous improvement of accounting processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least two (2) years of accounting experience; construction industry experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address potential issues.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and ongoing professional development.
- Ability to think critically, work independently, and take ownership of internal accounting processes.
- Experience with accounting software; Sage 300 CRE experience a plus.
- Experience with construction-related platforms such as Textura, GCPay, and Procore a plus.
