Position Summary
- The XL Enrichment Specialist is responsible for creating, promoting, and leading classes weekly to high school aged youth, in subjects as decided by the Site Director and the Area Program Manager. Programming must be intentional, follow ProYouth curriculum guidelines, and be based on youth development goals and principles.
Primary Role and Responsibilities
- Create and develop programs and curriculum that utilize higher-level thinking skills and problem-solving techniques for students that support and supplement school efforts
- Promote the growth and development of enrichment programs
- Support student mastery of new skills through project-based learning
- Promote and maintain a culture of safety and well-being with students
- Foster positive social-emotional growth, motivation, and self-esteem.
- Ensure that activities are age-appropriate, engaging and exciting to students
- Establish clear, consistent expectations for behavior and positive discipline
- Ensure that every student feels known, accepted, valued and respected
- Build and maintain a high level of trust through effective communication methods
- Participation in professional development, staff meetings, site training and professional learning communities
- Maintain awareness of program goals and processes
- Support Site Director to meet, or exceed, attendance levels for the class
- Address issues, concerns, and challenges to immediate supervisor
- Support and demonstrate commitment to the ProYouth vision and goals
- Support Site Director in setting and achieving meaningful goals
- Build positive and professional relationships with coworkers, supervisors, ProYouth executive and administrative staff, site principal, teachers and parents
- Complete responsibilities accurately and on time
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all matters relating to students
- Comply with ProYouth Employee Handbook and other Policies and Procedures
- Perform other program duties as assigned within the scope and range of training and knowledge base

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred,
- Will accept:
- High School diploma and 48 college units or
- High School diploma and NCLB test certificate of passing grade or
- High School diploma and AA/AS or higher
- One to two years of demonstrated experience in a specialized skill
- A minimum of two years’ experience working with high school aged youth is desirable
General Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Must pass a DOJ/FBI background check.
- Must receive TB clearance.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Must have reliable means of transportation which may include alternative means of transportation such as public transit, ride sharing, and or biking.
Environmental Conditions
- Ability to work in multiple settings, including home office, the indoor classroom environment, and active outdoor locations
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, perform grasping and handling motions, and torso rotations on a continuous basis to engage and guide children’s classroom and playground activities.
- Able to lift and carry 20 pounds of materials
- Able to reach in all directions.
- Adequate sight or corrected vision for the purpose of reading directions and printed or written materials.
- Able to hear and speak to communicate with coworkers, students, and the public.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate instructional equipment.
- Work in a classroom and outdoor environment, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
