What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer position at Proximate Technologies Inc?
Responsibilities
- Partner with leadership to establish, prioritize, and execute quality improvement initiatives aligned with plant and corporate goals
- Lead supplier improvement activities including PPAP, reducing supplier-driven nonconformances, and driving corrective actions
- Resolve complex technical issues within manufacturing with a strong focus on root cause, process stability, and long-term corrective actions
- Implement process controls and drive process capability improvements to ensure consistent quality and reduce variation
- Support and mentor quality technicians, helping track performance against defined goals
- Manage personal workload effectively and cross-train when appropriate to support team flexibility
- Support internal and external stakeholders through APQP and PPAP activities, including development and review of control plans, FMEA, process flows, Gage R&R, and capability studies
- Lead supplier nonconformance activities, ensuring alignment with supplier quality expectations and continuous improvement of quality, cost, and delivery
- Drive standardization across the plant through development of standard work, best practices, and consistent process documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- 3 years of manufacturing experience in Operations, Quality, or Supplier Quality
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
- Expertise in metrology, CMM programming/operation, Gage R&R, and capability studies
- Experience with key supply chain processes such as MIM, plastic molding, CNC machining, stamping, springs, castings, and forgings
