Position Overview
Provincetown IB World Schools seeks a part-time Assistant Principal (.6 FTE) to support students and staff in Grades PreK3 through MYP 3 in a small, close-knit PreK–8 International Baccalaureate (IB) World School serving approximately 140 students.
This role is designed for a five-day-per-week presence with reduced daily hours, allowing for consistent visibility, relationship-building, and instructional leadership while maintaining a .6 FTE workload. The Assistant Principal will play a key role in student support, instructional leadership, school culture, and family engagement, working closely with the Principal and staff to ensure a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment grounded in IB values and practices.

Key Responsibilities
Student Support & School Culture
Assist the principal in promoting the educational well-being of each student
Support the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students in PreK3–MYP 3
Assist with student discipline and restorative practices aligned with IB learner profile attributes
Collaborate with counselors, special educators, and support staff to address student needs
Maintain a visible and supportive presence throughout the work day
Foster a positive, inclusive school climate rooted in international-mindedness and belonging
Instructional Leadership
Support implementation of the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) and Middle Years Program (MYP)
Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback aligned with IB practices and district evaluation systems
Collaborate with teachers on curriculum, instruction, and assessment
Support English learners, students with disabilities, and diverse learners in collaboration with specialists
Family & Community Engagement
Serve as a point of contact for families regarding student support and school concerns
Communicate effectively with families in a small-school environment where relationships matter
Support community-based partnerships and school events
Operations & Administration
Assist with daily school operations and supervision
Support compliance with district policies, DESE regulations, and school procedures
Participate in safety planning, drills, and emergency response as needed
Assume the duties and responsibilities of the Principal, as assigned, during periods of absence to ensure continuity of school operations and compliance with district policies and DESE regulations.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal/Superintendent
Work Schedule
.6 FTE position
Five (5) days per week with reduced daily hours
Hours: 8:30 – 1:00 (4.5 hours a day), must be flexible based on need
Exact daily schedule to be determined in collaboration with the Principal/Superintendent
Salary : $50,000 - $65,000
