Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role supports the day-to-day upkeep of the Province’s facilities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, ensuring timely repairs, effective troubleshooting, and the implementation of preventative maintenance across multiple building systems.
This is a hands-on role for a skilled and well-rounded maintenance professional who takes pride in high-quality work, pays close attention to detail, and communicates clearly and professionally. The ideal candidate has experience performing repairs, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a variety of building systems.
Position Hours
- Monday – Friday
- 7AM – 3PM
- On call 24/7 for emergency situations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate, exemplify and support the Capuchin Charism and Provincial Mission, Vision and Values throughout all professional responsibilities and activities.
- Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on facility systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, doors, flooring, drywall, and other building components.
- Respond promptly to emergency building situations and ensure timely resolution.
- Complete work orders in a timely manner while maintaining high workmanship standards.
- Maintain accurate records related to buildings, services, insurance, construction, maintenance, inspections, and security.
- Communicate clearly with management, vendors, building occupants, and the Province’s Director of Facilities regarding repairs, projects, timelines, and status updates.
- Properly use and care for personal hand tools required for daily tasks.
- Coordinate facility set-up and arrangements for ministry programs and activities.
- Work with staff and volunteers to develop a comfortable, hospitable and supportive environment for guests.
- Comply with OSHA and local ordinances.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Comply with Province and ministry policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Trade certifications or technical training (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.), preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience with preventative maintenance programs, preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience with life safety standards and best practices in facilities operations, preferred.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance concepts and ability to perform repairs and troubleshoot maintenance work.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, boiler systems, maintenance and controls.
- Knowledge of local ordinances and OSHA regulations.
- Effective Microsoft Office, communication, problem solving, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively and safely use power tools, hand tools, climb ladders and work at heights.
- Ability to safely lift and move up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work independently, safely, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to be welcoming and professional and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays and travel locally.
