Location: DelSesto Middle School
Middle/High School Level - Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (Up to 1 Position)
Prep Days [NOT PD Days]: June 29-30, 2026
Program Dates: Mon-Thurs July 6-30, 2026
Data Day: July 31, 2026
Hours: 8:15am-12:45pm
Pay $40/hr (contingent upon enrollment and funding)
Under direction of the school principal and/or appropriate supervisor, the Physical Education teacher will provide an Adaptive Physical Education Program to students consistent with their Individual Education Program (IEP).
EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
RIDE Requirements:
- PK-12 Physical Education and
- PK-12 Health and
- PK-12 Adaptive
ESL Preferred
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS:
- Experience working with moderately/severely disabled students.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES:
- Provide gross and fine motor activities to improve gait, balance and coordination.
- Incorporate occupational and physical goals into students' activities.
- Provide opportunities for gross motor activities for children in ESY program and for all children participating in summer learning opportunities that are held in their assigned school.
- Provide functional gross motor activities such as stairs, incline and decline surfaces.
- Movement from smooth to rough textured surfaces.
- Adapt games and activities to students’ abilities.
- Monitor daily student attendance and implement pro-active strategies to increase student attendance at ESY.
- Collect, complete and analyze ESY data both as written documentation and also input into web-based program.
- Must commit to work all days of ESY program.
