EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in the applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
RIDE Certification Requirements:
- Reading Specialist/Consultant
- Proficiency in Right to Read Requirements
- ESL Certification Preferred
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver evidence-based, structured literacy interventions aligned to the science of reading, including programs such as Wilson Reading System and Orton-Gillingham, based on student need and diagnostic data.
- Administer and analyze universal screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring assessments to identify student needs and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Design, implement, and monitor Tier II and Tier III interventions within the district’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
- Utilize the district’s MTSS platform to document interventions, track student progress, analyze outcomes, and support data-based decision making.
- Collaborate as an active member of MTSS teams, contributing to problem-solving cycles, intervention planning, and progress review.
- Serve as a member of IEP teams, providing expertise in literacy development, present levels of performance, goal development, and progress monitoring for students with reading-related disabilities.
- Provide explicit, systematic, and cumulative instruction in foundational literacy skills, including phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
- Support classroom teachers through coaching, modeling, and consultation to strengthen Tier I core instruction and ensure alignment with evidence-based literacy practices.
- Ensure fidelity of implementation for all intervention programs and instructional strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, intervention plans, and outcomes in compliance with district and state requirements.
- Communicate regularly with families, educators, and stakeholders regarding student progress, intervention effectiveness, and next steps.
- Participate in ongoing professional learning related to structured literacy, MTSS, and effective reading instruction.
- Contribute to a school culture that prioritizes high-quality, grade-level literacy instruction and equitable access to effective interventions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
