Southside Elementary Charter School is recruiting a Reading Interventionist to join our team starting August 2025. Candidates must have a growth mindset and be willing to do whatever it takes to put all students on a path to college and community leadership. Job Description:

The reading specialist provides and leads reading instruction and assessment, school-wide, through a combination of intervention, coaching and modeling of research-based instructional strategies.The reading specialist reports to the Principal.

Job Duties:

  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other colleagues in planning instruction to meet the individualized needs of diverse learners
  • Support the school's reading assessment process and data analysis and empower classroom teachers to make data-driven instructional decisions
  • Deliver Tier II reading interventions and targeted instruction to identified students across K-5
  • Provide professional development by training, coaching, and supporting teachers with the implementation of reading intervention programs and instructional practices
  • Lead the process in adopting a new research-based literacy curriculum that emphasizes the Science of Reading
  • Serve as a resource for teachers, learning partners, administration and families
  • Coordinate an annual Family Literacy Night focused on the five components of reading to extend learning at home and deliver a family workshop on how to improve students' reading levels
  • Participate in bi-weekly TIPS (Tiered Intervention Problem Solving) meetings with classroom teachers to analyze student achievement data and develop action plans for intervention

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in Literacy/Reading
  • Valid Rhode Island K-12 Reading Specialist License
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a K-5 school or equivalent environment
  • Current knowledge of reading research and effective practices in the areas of literacy development, literacy instruction, assessment, and professional development
  • Proven experience in transforming instruction through effective coaching and collaborating with teachers
  • Experience planning for and facilitating professional development workshops for teachers
  • Experience with research-based reading intervention programs such as Read 180 and Orton Gillingham
  • Familiarity and experience with Read Naturally, Foundations (c), K-2
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and flexible, responsive work style

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,500.00 - $66,000.00 per year

Salary : $55,500 - $66,000
