Job Description
The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including the month-end close process, preparation of adjusting journal entries, and accounts payable functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
This is a full time, in-office position.
Essential Functions:
- Manage and process accounts payable functions
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing process
- Maintains and reviews cost center and appropriation accounts to verify accuracy with coding, classification and posting of financial transactions
- Assist with payroll processing as needed
- Provides support for special accounting projects
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
Experience:
- Minimum two years accounting experience preferred; new graduates are encouraged to apply and will be considered.
- SAGE 100 and ADP Workforce experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of budgeting and of cost accounting principles
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve accounting issues
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
