Job Description

The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including the month-end close process, preparation of adjusting journal entries, and accounts payable functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

This is a full time, in-office position.

 Essential Functions:

·     Manage and process accounts payable functions

·     Assist with month-end and year-end closing process

·     Maintains and reviews cost center and appropriation accounts to verify accuracy with coding, classification and posting of financial transactions

·     Assist with payroll processing as needed

·     Provides support for special accounting projects

Education:

·     Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

Experience: 

·     Two years accounting experience preferred; new graduates are encouraged to apply and will be considered.

·     SAGE 100 and ADP Workforce experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·     Knowledge of budgeting and of cost accounting principles

·     Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve accounting issues

·     High level of attention to detail and accuracy

·     Ability to manage multiple deadlines

·     Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
