The CNC Press Brake Operator sets up and operates CNC press brake equipment to form precision sheet metal parts for the semiconductor equipment industry. The role ensures each part meets production and quality specifications, from tooling selection to first-piece inspection.
Key Responsibilities:Review work orders, blueprints, and print specifications to establish forming requirements, bend sequences, and tolerances
Set up press brake operations, including tooling selection, back gauge positioning, and program parameters, aligned with drawing and order specifications
Collaborate with Level II operators to program CNC press brake equipment and select appropriate punches and dies
Form sheet metal parts in steel, stainless steel, and aluminum across a range of gauges
Perform first-piece and in-process quality checks using calipers, protractors, micrometers, and gauges to verify bend angles, flange lengths, and overall dimensions
Verify material type, thickness, and grain direction against work order requirements before forming
Make adjustments to compensate for springback, material variation, and tooling wear
Monitor equipment and tooling condition; flag maintenance needs and report issues to leads
Identify and communicate print discrepancies or forming problems to engineering and quality
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in sheet metal manufacturing, with direct CNC press brake setup and operation experience
Strong blueprint reading ability, including bend callouts and GD&T
Proficiency with measurement tools including calipers, protractors, and micrometers
Competency with standard hand tools and shop equipment
Understanding of bend allowances, K-factors, springback, and tooling selection
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Reliable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision
High school diploma or GED
Experience with Amada, Trumpf, Cincinnati, or similar CNC press brake controls
