Senior accountant

PROVEN Management is an award-winning government contracting firm specializing in interiors, project management, and logistics. We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager who can take ownership of the accounting function, spots issues early, and follows them through resolution.

This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a growing, fast-paced business. You should be comfortable working independently, taking responsibility for the accuracy of the books, and bringing problems and recommended solutions to leadership.

What You’ll Do

• Own general ledger activity and month-end/year-end close
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Manage AP, AR, billing, collections, and cash application
• Reconcile bank, credit card, payroll, and balance sheet accounts
• Review and reconcile payroll and related journal entries
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and variances
• Review project revenue, costs, billing, and financial performance
• Identify discrepancies and independently investigate and resolve them
• Support audits, tax preparation, 1099s, and year-end requirements
• Improve accounting procedures, documentation, and internal controls
• Provide leadership with timely financial information and flag issues requiring attention

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7 years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience
• Experience independently managing month-end close and preparing financial statements
• Strong QuickBooks Online experience required
• Strong knowledge of GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, payroll accounting, and month-end close
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience with budgeting, cash flow, and variance analysis
• Paychex preferred
• Government contracting experience is a plus, not required
• Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar experience preferred
