The Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to clients in an alcohol and substance use treatment facility. This role is responsible for administering treatments, monitoring client health, maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring compliance with established protocols, and supporting quality patient care initiatives.
This position may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
Essential Responsibilities
- Explain procedures and treatments to clients to gain cooperation and understanding
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, and protocols
- Order medications and laboratory supplies as needed
- Maintain awareness of client comfort and safety
- Observe clients, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify physicians regarding client conditions, reactions to treatments, and significant incidents
- Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to assess client condition
- Communicate client needs effectively to physicians and/or the Medical Director
- Respond to life-saving situations in accordance with emergency standards, policies, procedures, and protocols
- Document nursing notes properly and in accordance with established guidelines
- Prepare and maintain documents, rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies as needed
- Call in medications to pharmacies
- Provide on-call services after hours and on holidays
- Run OARRS for clients
- Track laboratory orders to ensure tests are performed and reviewed in a timely manner
- Track and document medication orders for Suboxone and other medications used within the program
- Work with the State of Ohio Pharmacy Board to maintain compliance related to the administration and storage of controlled substances and other medications
- Provide training to LPNs and Recovery Support Staff as needed
- Assist the management team with developing policies and procedures to ensure quality programs and clinical services
Education & Experience
- Current Registered Nurse licensure
- Must hold a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Ohio
