SUMMARY
Our client, an established and growing law firm in the Milwaukee area, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join its team. This is a full-time, in-office position in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin supporting attorneys in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate will have prior law firm or legal experience, strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities. Family law experience is preferred but not required, and the firm is willing to train a strong legal professional who demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide administrative and paralegal support to attorneys throughout the case lifecycle
- Prepare, draft, format, and file legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and other materials
- Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, hearings, appointments, and case-related events
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files
- Assist with discovery, document production, and exhibit preparation
- Obtain, review, and organize financial and other case-related records
- Coordinate meetings, depositions, hearings, and other case events
- Assist attorneys with case preparation from initial client intake through resolution
- Perform additional legal and administrative duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior law firm or legal experience required
- Family law experience preferred, but not required
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and competing priorities
- Comfortable communicating directly with clients in a professional manner
Strong computer skills and ability to learn new legal software and technology
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
