Role Description

The full-time Optometrist will serve patients at Juliette Eye Institute's Albuquerque-Santa Fe area locations. The Optometrist will:

• Provide comprehensive eye exams.
• Diagnose and manage ocular diseases.
• Prescribe corrective lenses.
• Co-manage surgical and specialty care with ophthalmologists and other clinicians.
• Review patient histories.
• Interpret diagnostic tests.
• Document findings in the medical record.
• Educate patients on eye health and treatment options.
• Coordinate follow-up care.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support efficient patient flow.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Uphold the institute's standards for excellent patient experience.
  
  

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Current, unrestricted optometry license or eligibility for licensure in the state of practice.
• Strong clinical skills in comprehensive eye examinations, refraction, contact lens fitting, and diagnosis and management of common ocular conditions.
• Proficiency with modern diagnostic equipment and electronic health records.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and practice workflows.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient education, counseling, and collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams.
• Commitment to patient-centered care, ethical practice, and maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and confidentiality.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment, manage time well, and contribute positively to team-based care.
• Prior experience in medical optometry, co-management of surgical cases, or work in a specialty eye care setting is beneficial.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development, quality improvement, and practice growth activities.
