District School Psychologist (SY 26-27)

Job Title: School Psychologist

Location: Worcester, MA

Job Type: Full-Time | Exempt

School Year: 2025-2026 & 2026-2027

Reports To: Director of Special Education (in partnership with District Principals)

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for students referred for special education services.
• Interpret assessment results and prepare detailed evaluation reports with recommendations.
• Develop and implement individualized intervention strategies to address students' academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs.
• Provide counseling and crisis intervention services to students receiving special education support.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and support staff to develop and monitor effective intervention plans.
• Participate as an active member of the multidisciplinary special education team, including attending and contributing to IEP meetings.
• Consult with school staff regarding classroom strategies, behavioral supports, and social-emotional interventions.
• Assist the student support team during crisis situations and provide immediate intervention when necessary.
• Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local special education regulations.
• Participate in district committees, professional development, and ongoing training to remain current with best practices in school psychology.
  
  

Qualifications

Required:

• Master's degree or higher in School Psychology from a NASP-approved program.
• Completion of a 1,200-hour supervised practicum/internship, including at least 600 hours in a school setting.
• Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) School Psychologist License.
• Strong knowledge of psychoeducational assessment tools, behavioral interventions, and special education laws.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  
  

Preferred

• Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in a diverse school environment.
• Experience participating in IEP development and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention skills.
  
  

Additional Requirements

• Successful completion of Massachusetts background check and fingerprinting.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to assist students with mobility needs when required.
• Willingness to attend required district meetings, professional development, and training sessions.
  
  

Work Environment

• School and office-based setting.
• Travel between district schools may be required.
• Occasional evening or weekend attendance for parent meetings, professional development, or school events.
