Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead all accounting operations and oversee Managing General Agency (MGA) reporting requirements while ensuring compliance with statutory standards and regulatory requirements. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Corporate Controller will provide strategic financial leadership, oversee financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, manage budgeting and forecasting, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all accounting functions. This role requires a hands-on leader with extensive accounting experience, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to drive operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the accounting department, including direct supervision of the accounting team.
Oversee and maintain the company's general ledger system, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Manage banking relationships and implement effective cash management and financial controls.
Develop, enhance, and implement cost-effective financial reporting tools and processes.
Establish and maintain internal accounting policies, procedures, and controls in compliance with company, statutory, legislative, and regulatory requirements.
Identify, evaluate, and resolve accounting issues while supporting organizational business objectives.
Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial planning models.
Direct the monthly financial close process and deliver accurate, timely internal financial reports to executive leadership.
Coordinate and support external audits, including preparation of audit schedules, financial statement footnotes, and Prepared-By-Client (PBC) documentation.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, and internal control policies.
Provide financial analysis, recommendations, and strategic guidance to executive leadership.
Work independently under pressure while consistently meeting strict corporate deadlines.
Qualifications
Prior experience in Managing General Agency (MGA) accounting is required.
Minimum 15 years of progressive accounting experience, including comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, and financial management.
Minimum 5 years of leadership or management experience overseeing accounting teams.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
CPA or MBA is preferred.
Public accounting experience is a plus.
Knowledge of statutory accounting is preferred.
Experience with the Sapiens suite of accounting technologies is a plus.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and financial database applications.
Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
