Job Overview

A boutique commercial real estate law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Leasing Attorney to join its practice. The role focuses primarily on retail leasing and offers sophisticated transactional work, a collaborative environment, and a lower annual billable hour target of 1,200-1,400 hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate retail and commercial leases.
• Prepare lease amendments, assignments, subleases, guaranties, SNDAs, estoppel certificates, and letters of intent.
• Represent landlords, tenants, developers, property owners, and other commercial real estate clients.
• Advise clients on lease interpretation, compliance, defaults, renewals, expansions, relocations, and terminations.
• Manage leasing transactions from initial negotiations through execution.
• Identify legal and business risks and provide practical, business-focused advice.
• Handle multiple matters and deadlines independently.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active U.S. bar license in good standing.
• At least 4 years of commercial leasing experience, primarily focused on retail leasing.
• Strong lease drafting, review, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently with sound professional judgment.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior Big Law experience.
• Experience representing both landlords and tenants.
• Experience with national or regional retailers, shopping centers, or mixed-use developments.
• Additional commercial real estate experience in acquisitions, dispositions, development, or financing.
• Experience managing leasing portfolios or high-volume transactions.
