Job Description: This position will be responsible for high-speed RF and digital electronic design for the entire hardware design process from innovating new technologies to debugging and validating the final design. An ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail oriented and an excellent communicator.
- Design and simulate high-speed PCBs with RF front-ends, FPGAs, and high-speed digital interfaces
- Oversee PCB layout and fabrication, ensuring signal integrity and EMC compliance
- Troubleshoot and verify prototypes throughout the development cycle
- Interact with customers to review designs and provide technical expertise in the area of high-speed and RF design
- Provide technical leadership to deliver innovative test and measurement products
- Develop technical solutions that require collaboration with internal teams, manufacturing partners, and external experts; perform deep analyses to understand the impact on end-users and products
- Develop solutions to known technical problems and emergent issues, which are often unclear
The successful candidate will have knowledge of RF circuit design, high-speed signal design concepts including signal integrity, transmission lines, PCB design, and simulation. The candidate should be knowledgeable in the product development cycle including design, test, and manufacturing. Experience working with FPGAs and high-speed serial protocols is highly valued.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Understanding of RF circuit theory, transmission line theory, and high-speed signal fundamentals
- Printed circuit board design experience including experience with high-speed signal integrity, controlled impedance design, and RF layout techniques
- RF circuit design and analysis (amplifiers, filters, matching networks, etc.)
- Schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer or equivalent)
- Signal integrity and EMC simulation tools
- Part selection and vendor management
- Operating general lab equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers)
- Product design from concept to production
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with MIPI, PCIe, USB, or other high-speed serial protocols
- Knowledge of FPGA interfaces and timing requirements
- Experience with test and measurement instrument design
- Understanding of protocol analyzer or logic analyzer architectures
- EMC/EMI testing and compliance experience
Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required for this position. 2 years of relevant experience in RF and high-speed hardware design.
