Material Handler - 1st Shift

Position Summary Provides support in the areas of shipping, receiving, inventory control and may include moving and transporting raw materials and finished goods throughout the manufacturing facility. Use fork truck and/or forklift equipment to secure and transport materials and products within facility safely Unload trucks at shipping and receiving docks as scheduled or instructedInteract with transport drivers regarding the loading and unloading of materials/productsMake a record of receipts using the D365 information systemRoute and move shipments to the proper department and warehouse or stock section, handle and arrange for adjustments for merchandise that is lost or damagedPrepares shipments, wrapping and/ or packing the goods in shipping containersPrepare shipping documents, mailing labels, label packages.Look up and compute freight or postal rates, and record the weight and cost of each shipmentSorts packages, accepts deliveries, and distributes throughout facilityRecord items taken from inventory Calculate the weight of the skid by placing boxes on a scaleMaintain a neat and orderly work area.Verify, count and condition for all material being received from suppliersProvide production floor with product as necessaryParticipate in Inventory control assignmentsSubscribe to and practices 5S principles, and JIT proceduresAdhere to and follow ISO guidelinesWork a full-time shift schedule with regular attendance and ability to work overtime as neededObey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors.Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision.Perform all other duties as assigned.Page BreakEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GEDDemonstrated hands-on experience working in a material handler capacity and/or in warehouse environmentCable and wire experience a plusProficient reading comprehension skills in English to understand written information on packaging, contents, handling specifications and instructions, bills of lading, MSDS sheets, and other pertinent informationSkilled in operating electric sit down fork trucks, electric (or gas) stand-up, hand or reach trucks and pallet jacks in a warehouse environment to move stock and reorganize storageAbility to operate vehicle equipment in tight and/or congested areasKnowledge and familiarity using a variety of hand toolsAbility to make adjustments for frequent interruptions and changing priorities caused by rush orders, production or shipping delaysAware of proper storage and product placement in the warehouseSkilled in lifting heavy box materials and objectsAbility to take direction and work with minimal supervision and as a team memberFocus on customer service and qualityAccurately performs multiple operational tasks assigned within the facilityGood verbal communication skills in English to exchange information with co-workers and supervisorsPhysical DemandsAbility to stand for long periods of timeFrequent bending, stooping, moving within the plant to move product and materials dailyLifting, carrying, moving, and reaching to maneuver a minimum of 50 lbs of materials, product, boxes, cartons, packages in the facilityMove within facility to inside office locations and/or warehouse areas, to loading dock areas, including outdoors throughout all seasonsEye hand coordinationHand and finger dexterity Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
